Signing up for an account

Signing up for a Totenvis account asks for your name, a company or organisation name, an email address and a password. We use it to create your account and licence, confirm your email, and let you sign in — nothing else. It's held by our account service (account.totenvis.com), not by this site. Your account and its data are kept while your account is open.

Contacting us

If you send an enquiry or start a conversation with us, what you write is kept with the enquiry so we can answer it. There's no fixed period we delete it after; we're working out a sensible way to clear old enquiries and will update this page when we do.

A conversation with us is read and answered by a person on our support desk. We don't ask an outside service to read or answer it for you.

We ask for a company name, and an email address or a phone number, so we can get back to you; anything else you tell us (your name, roughly how many devices, which way of running Totenvis you're interested in) is optional. None of it is sold or passed to anyone outside Totenvis.

While you're chatting

A conversation you start on this site is held against a token kept only in your browser's session storage for that tab — not a cookie, and not kept once you close the tab. We use it to tell your messages apart from anyone else's; we don't use it to track you anywhere else.

Who is responsible, and how to reach us about your data

WebsterIT Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 07503294, is responsible for the data this site and our account service collect. If you have a question about your data, or want to see, correct or delete what we hold, email support@totenvis.com.

Our account service runs on Microsoft Azure, in the UK, and sends account emails through Microsoft 365. This site is hosted by Fasthosts, also in the UK. We don't use any other processor today; we'll name a payment provider here once paid sign-up is live.

Why we use your data

We use what you give us to answer your enquiry or chat, or to run the account you signed up for — nothing else. Signing up and running your account is done under our contract with you; answering an enquiry or a chat is our legitimate interest in responding to you. None of it is sold or shared outside Totenvis.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you at any time — email support@totenvis.com. If you're not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

What this site and its host keep

This site is a set of static pages and stores nothing itself. The web host it runs on, Fasthosts, keeps its own ordinary access logs — which page was asked for, when, from which address — for up to 90 days; we don't look at them.
